Macbook Pro 2009 Unibody:

My new Macbook Pro finally arrived today ! I’ve been without my Mac for about three weeks and hence wasn’t able to share any photos. Here are the specs of this puppy :
- 15.4” LED screen
- 2.66Ghz Core 2 Duo processor
- 4Gb RAM
- 500Gb HDD
- NVIDIA GeForce 9400M + 9600M GT graphics cards
There’s an interesting story behind this laptop. About 10 months ago, just after my previous Macbook Pro came out of its 12 month warranty period, it developed an issue with the display. I took it into Apple to have it checked out, fully expecting to be slugged with a big bill since the machine is out of warranty. Luckily, the problem turned out to be a known fault with the NVIDIA graphics chip that they used and Apple had committed to fixing this issue regardless of warranty. They replaced the motherboard for me.
Three weeks ago, problems started surfacing again on my laptop. Display related issues again. I took it back into Apple and they weren’t able to fix it for me on the spot and I had to leave it with them for testing. I did not hear from them for a week, so I called them back and discovered that they hadn’t done a thing with my laptop during the entire week. Needless to say, I wasn’t a happy camper.
They did do a poor job of keeping me informed and everytime I called up, I was given very vague responses as to the status of my case. But I really did not have any choice seeing that the laptop is out of warranty, so I had to put up with the frustrations of the process.
A week ago, the manager rang me back and he said that they weren’t able to diagnose the issue but seeing that they replaced the motherboard for me less than a year ago due to a known issue, this time, they will replace the entire laptop for me instead with a brand new one.
Needless to say, all was forgiven. :) So that’s how I ended up with a new laptop to replace my 2 year old laptop. The new laptop is a real beauty ! Now that I’m back up and running, new photos will be available on a screen near you soon. :)
